The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggests the job market was much weaker in 2024 and early this year than previously thought.
Arizona saw an opposite trend.
As a whole, the U.S. added 911,000 fewer jobs than expected between April of last year and March this year. The biggest drops were in the leisure and hospitality and business services sectors.
Arizona’s market on the other hand saw about 34,800 more jobs than early estimates reported.
The federal data does not break down job sector numbers by state. But Arizona's workforce data released last month shows that business services were among the top growing sectors between July 2024 and July 2025.
Other top performing categories in the state included health care and private education.
Final federal data will come out in February.
