The opening of a huge resort next door to the stadium that hosts the Super Bowl and other mega international sporting events has been delayed yet again.
The resort in Glendale was originally supposed to feature a central lagoon, and it was supposed to open before Arizona hosted its last Super Bowl in 2023.
Then ownership changed and the project became VAI Resort, which kept plans for a Mattel-themed amusement park to go with live entertainment.
In a statement, Glendale’s city manager said quickly opening VAI Resort is not the focus, and officials are committed to helping developers build an unrivaled destination.
Glendale has faced lawsuits over tax benefits for the developer and resort parking plans.
