This little robot will deliver your DoorDash food in the Phoenix area

The DoorDash Dot

If you’ve driven through Tempe or Mesa the past few months, you may have passed a small red robot with big bright eyes or headlights, driving beside you on the road or sidewalk.

DoorDash calls these bots Dot. About the size of a big baby stroller, and with the capacity to haul up to six large pizzas, DoorDash says the autonomous delivery robots have made hundreds of successful deliveries in Tempe and Mesa.

And soon they’ll expand to all parts of the Phoenix metro region.

Doordash says Dot, which reaches speeds up to 20 miles per hour, is intended for quick deliveries in neighborhoods to help local businesses meet growing consumer demand.

If the expansion runs smoothly, DoorDash says it plans to bring Dot to more markets across the U.S. as quickly as possible.
