Waymo and DoorDash are partnering to offer driverless delivery of food and groceries in metro Phoenix.
The new collaboration will offer orders from DashMart — this is DoorDash’s brick and mortar store supplied by several convenience, grocery and retail partners.
Waymo says they plan to expand variety and include more local merchants over time.
Customers can opt for autonomous vehicle delivery at check out. They may be matched with a Waymo, and if so, the delivery will be in the trunk of the car — opened with the app.
Waymo says this will make for safer, more seamless and sustainable food delivery. The company says the service will start within months.
