The latest eviction numbers are in for Maricopa County. It was one of the busiest Octobers ever, with landlords filing more than 7,500 evictions.
"Last year, we had the most eviction filings ever seen in the justice courts — over 87,000 evictions," said Scott Davis, a spokesperson with the Maricopa County Justice Court. "This year, if the monthly trends hold true, we’ll probably end up at 84,000, which will make it our second highest year ever. "
Davis said the average judgment a tenant owed is more than $3,100.
He said the number of evictions typically drops in November and December because landlords don’t want to evict tenants during the holidays.
