More than 17.8 million people are expected to be traveling through U.S. airports in the coming days.
Heather Shelbrack with Phoenix Sky Harbor said that Wednesday and Sunday will be the busiest days at the airport. Shelbrack says there are ways to best navigate travel and reduce traffic near the airport.
"It’s gonna be very busy as years pass though on our roadways, so we’re encouraging travelers to pick up and drop off either our 44th street or 24th street Phoenix Sky Train Station," she said.
Hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed at Sky Harbor during the government shutdown that ended Nov. 12. While Shelbrack thinks that things are back to normal, she encourages travelers to check their flight status ahead of time.
The FAA anticipates this to be the busiest Thanksgiving in 15 years. While the recent government shutdown may be on the mind of travelers, the FAA issued a statement saying passengers can “fly with confidence” this week.
