Chandler has rejected a proposed AI data center development for its Price Road industrial corridor. The City Council’s unanimous no vote came after hours of public comment on Thursday.
The proposed data center gained public attention after former U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema attended several city meetings urging officials to approve the project in alignment with the Trump administration’s AI initiatives.
In shutting down the proposal, Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said the city is looking for other options than data centers for the business district, which includes Intel and Wells Fargo.

“Big, almost-jobless buildings that are important and desired in other locations don't fit what we've been designing and crafting and looking for in Price Corridor,” Hartke said.
Hartke said the city received over 250 emails in opposition and only 10 in support.
It is not clear what New York-based developer Active Infrastructure will do with its 40-acre property.
