Arizona’s attorney general has reached a settlement in a case involving an assisted living facility. The former owners can no longer operate in the state.

Kris Mayes announced her office reached a settlement to resolve a complaint alleging elder abuse and consumer fraud by the owners and operators of the facility formerly known as Heritage Village Assisted Living.

Under the terms, the owners can no longer apply for a license to provide health services in Arizona and are barred from having any ownership or management interest in businesses providing care to vulnerable adults. They also have to pay $100,000 in civil penalties.

Besides the lawsuit, Mayes had asked a court to place Heritage Village into a receivership. The application described Heritage Village as “perhaps the most notorious assisted living facility in Arizona.
