The St. Mary’s Food Bank says it will close its Phoenix and Surprise facilities Wednesday, July 1, through Friday, July 3.
Spokesperson Jerry Brown says the closure is due to a technology update for food tracking.
“St. Mary's is in the process of switching over computer systems for their warehouse. That necessitates for us to be closed for a few days," he said.
People are encouraged to visit before the closure if they need food for their families.
“It's rare for us to be closed three days in a row. That's why we're trying to get the information out to the public to let them know," Brown said.
The locations are closed on weekends and expect to resume normal operations on July 6.
Brown says the food bank sees about 10,000 families across its network every week. He attributes recent demand to high inflation, increased gas prices and the state’s sharp cuts to food stamps.
