Mesa Gateway Airport sets records for passenger activity and revenue over past fiscal year

Mesa Gateway Airport set several operational records over the past fiscal year, including the number of passengers served.

Since July of last year, the airport has set organizational records in five major categories, including passenger activity, operating revenue, net income, fuel sales and parking revenue.

In a press release, the airport says these records come despite a reduction in airport capacity as a result of high fuel prices.

Between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, more than 2 million passengers flew through Mesa. The airport brought in over $47 million in that time frame, including netting over $6.5 million in income. The airport also earned $19.5 million in fuel sales and $5.8 million in parking revenue.

“We had literally the best year that we've ever had in the history of the airport on all facets,” said Ryan Smith, the communications director for Gateway Airport.

Smith says despite higher fuel prices, people are still flying, including for vacation.

“It's still our best year ever,” Smith said. “We think that's significant given the headwinds of the … the headwinds of the industry going on with rising fuel prices and those kinds of challenges to be able to still set that record was a huge accomplishment.”

Smith said the momentum continues into the new fiscal year as the airport’s primary carrier Allegiant Air recently announced an additional 39 flights from Gateway starting this winter.

“Back-to-back record-setting years confirm that air travelers have made Mesa Gateway Airport their airport of choice,” said Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman, Chair of the Mesa Gateway Airport Authority Board of Directors. “Gateway Airport is one of the largest economic drivers in the greater Phoenix region, and each new record strengthens the connection between the Valley of the Sun and the rest of the country.”
