Federal prosecutors say a Scottsdale man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to embezzling about $9 million from employees of federal contractors.
Court documents say 49-year-old James Campbell is CEO of Axim Fringe Solutions Group, which processes employee retirement and health insurance benefits for federal contractors.
Prosecutors say Campbell pooled funds in a single account from which he stole. Also, after relocating the company from Maryland to Scottsdale, Campbell reportedly kept stealing by secretly overcharging clients.
Records show Campbell spent money on big game hunting trips to Alaska and Africa, taxidermy, jewelry, gambling and his girlfriend.
He faces up to five years in prison.
