HonorHealth has been named as the primary clinical affiliate for Arizona State University’s new medical school.

A major part of medical education is hands-on training in hospitals. Medical students spend several years learning and working in various departments under doctor supervision.

This partnership between ASU and the nonprofit health system will help students do just that. Students will be able to use HonorHealth facilities for clinical and research purposes.

ASU President Michael Crow praised the collaboration.

“ASU wins because of our partnership with Honor, Honor wins because of their partnership with us, and the community wins because we get another fantastic medical school being built here in the Valley, which we're very excited about," he said.

ASU’s School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering is expected to welcome its first class in 2026.

John Neil is executive vice president for HonorHealth.

“So you have creating more opportunities for medical students in the state of Arizona, is very important to grow a workforce and likewise, continuing to advance and grow our graduate medical education programs is gonna have a big impact on the future of healthcare in Arizona," he said.
