The Buckeye Police Department has put a school resource officer on administrative leave after he allegedly struck his teenage son.

The officer is facing domestic violence-related charges.

Forty-three-year-old David Ellison was arrested by Goodyear police Monday after his son made a 911 call. Court documents show the 15-year-old said his dad hit him in the face, and he was bleeding from his nose and mouth.

Responding officers said Ellison appeared to be intoxicated at the time and was apparently mad at his son for denting his truck.

In a statement, the Buckeye Police Department said the allegations are troubling and do not align with the department’s core values.

The Agua Fria Union High School District was notified that Ellison is now on leave, and Buckeye police assigned another officer to take over SRO duties at Verrado High School, where Ellison worked for more than a decade.
