The Scottsdale Unified School District serves about 23,000 students.

The Scottsdale Unified School District has announced that its schools will be stepping away from the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

In a post on the platform, Scottsdale Unified said its schools were stepping away to prioritize family-friendly engagement.

In a statement to KJZZ News, the district said it has had discussions since June when X formally allowed consensual adult content to be posted.

Additionally, the district said its 30 schools experience very little engagement on the platform when compared to other sites.

Some parents and community members replied to the post on X accusing the district of having political motives or just not liking Elon Musk. Others were upset because they don’t use other social media platforms like Facebook.
