After being closed for renovations, the idea Museum in Mesa plans to reopen for families on December 13.

Updates to the museum, which has been closed for several months, range from changes to the lobby to new public art installations.

There’s also an exhibition known as JoyRide: Art on Wheels, which gives people the opportunity to participate in a hands-on experience for artistry and creativity.

Jarrad Bittner is the director of the museum.

“We wanted to open up the museum as quickly as possible once construction got done because we know we have so many excited families in our community that are counting on us to be able to support their families right now,” he said.

Bittner says the museum served about 126,000 children and their families in the last fiscal year.
