It’s been several months since Arizona State University researchers launched a violent crime dashboard that provides statistics on homicides, suicides and more. Now the tool, called the Arizona Violent Death Reporting System Dashboard, has received some upgrades.

For example, users can now create and download custom tables for research purposes such as seeing the number of deaths across different years.

Jordan Batchelor is a research analyst at the university’s Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety, which is housed in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions. Batchelor says filters became a main feature.

“So if you go to something like demographics or trends or whatnot, there's going to be a number of drop down menus where the user can select things like race and sex and location," he said.

Other updates include a tab dedicated to providing suicide and homicide data as recent as one month before a user’s visit and and a tab with interactive maps showing data related to Arizona military veterans.
