ASU will build its health headquarters in downtown Phoenix.

The headquarters, called ASU Health, will be home to the School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering, along with the School of Technology for Public Health. ASU said the schools will prepare students for the next 20 to 50 years in health care by blending medicine, engineering, technology and humanities.

“ASU Health is taking a transformative approach to medical education,” said Sherine Gabriel, executive vice president for ASU Health. “Our number one goal is to improve health outcomes, and we really think the way to do it is to bring all of these disciplines to bear.”

The medical school is supported with $12 million in taxpayer approved city bond funding.

“ASU Health is integral to solving for workforce shortages and improving the quality of health for our residents,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said. ”Within 10 years, results will create nearly 200,000 jobs and add $19 billion to the state GDP.”

ASU Health headquarters will be built in the Phoenix Bioscience Core on a parcel bounded by Fourth and Fifth streets, Fillmore and Piece streets. at Fifth and Fillmore streets.

Construction is scheduled to begin next year and first classes are expected in fall 2028. ASU’s Nursing and Health Solutions Colleges are also located downtown.
