The Queen Creek Unified School District plans to use a new app this fall that allows parents to track their students’ bus routes.
The My Ride K-12 app will show updated arrival times, much like Uber does, letting parents know when a bus is running late.
The idea is to cut down the time a student waits outside, reduce the number of students who miss the bus, and make it easier for parents to get information without calling the transportation department.
Students will be able to scan a card when they get on and off, letting the driver know if they’re on the right bus and allowing parents to see if their child made it.
Governing board documents show a timeline for the app. The district trained staff members on the app in May and plans to pilot it this summer before a full roll out in August.
