Arizona State University has agreed to collaborate with a government initiative in India for semiconductor research and workforce training.
ASU says the partnership sets the stage for improving the chip supply chain. The move is expected to also open the door for student and teacher exchange programs.
ASU officials reportedly made over two dozen trips to India this year, in part to set the groundwork for its partnership with the India Semiconductor Mission.
In a statement, ASU said the collaboration aligns with a Biden era initiative between the U.S. and India to develop emerging technology.
The announcement comes days after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen holding hands at China’s military parade with the nation’s President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
