Arizona State University is launching a new artificial intelligence course with Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am.
The course titled “The Agentic Self,” plans to teach students about “foundational AI and knowledge and skills across all disciplines.” The program also intends to show students how to build an “AI universal learning companion.”
ASU spokesperson Veronica Sanchez says the collaboration between the university and will.i.am came about from work he was already doing.
“He's been guiding Fortune 100 CEOs on governance and good AI practices. And we certainly wanted to partner with him because of his expertise. And so that is how the relationship came about," she said.
Sanchez also says the university is always innovating in the AI space and preparing students for future jobs.
The course is planned for spring 2026 and is expected to be taught in the musician’s Hollywood studio, with some students in-person and others likely joining online.
