The Arizona Department of Education has released a new round of letter grades for Arizona’s public schools.
The annual grades take into account several performance measurements, including graduation rates along with student growth and proficiency in English, math and science.
Around 78% of the state’s public elementary and high schools received an A or B grade, which indicates a school is exceeding expectations on state assessment or is showing significant student growth and high graduation rates.
According to the grades, about 18% of public schools received a C grade, indicating they are meeting expectations.
Forty-four schools received D grades and 13 schools received an F grade. That is up from five failing schools the year prior.
A full list of the new school letter grades is available from the Arizona Board of Education’s website.
