Paradise Valley Unified School District Superintendent Todd Cummings is challenging the governing board’s decision to terminate him. The board began the process for dismissing Cummings earlier this month.
After the board adopted a statement of 14 charges against him, Cummings had 10 days to request a hearing to challenge the board’s decision or lose his job.
A district spokesperson confirmed to KJZZ that Cummings has requested one, but they do not yet have details on when it will happen or if it will be open to the public, adding: "as you can imagine, this is a unique situation and the District is determining next steps."
Some of the charges against Cummings include exhibiting an improper attitude, engaging in disrespectful conduct toward subordinate employees and failing to disclose pertinent information on his application for employment.
Cummings left his old district in Indiana amid allegations that student grades had been manipulated.
