A Surprise charter school was on high alert Friday after a threat towards the school was posted on social media.
Late Thursday night, Imagine Prep Surprise sent a letter to parents saying the school was aware of the post, had begun investigating and had contacted local authorities.
Principal Daniel Hattley commended students for reporting the post. He said the school was taking additional safety measures on Friday, like having police on campus, canceling sporting events and requiring visitors to show ID.
Several parents commented on the school’s Facebook post saying they appreciated the quick response, but some were not sending their students to school Friday out of an abundance of caution.
