Classes were canceled at two Buckeye high schools Thursday due to bomb threats.
Buckeye police responded to Canyon View High School after a bomb threat was reported there. Students and staff were evacuated to the football field and classes were canceled. Officers didn’t find anything after sweeping the campus.
They later learned of a similar threat at Verrado High School. Classes were also canceled there and officers assisted school officials in releasing students out of an abundance of caution.
No threat was located on that campus either. The police department later made a post on X, saying it appears the threats were a hoax, but the investigation is ongoing.
Buckeye police are also investigating similar bomb threats at Festival Foothills Elementary, which was already on spring break, and the Verrado Elementary and Middle School campus which were let out for the day.
