In an effort to remove financial barriers and expand access to mental health care, the University of Arizona says it will provide free counseling for its students beginning July 1.
The university says it has been working for several years to create free counseling and has allocated resources to ensure the initiative is sustainable.
UA officials say the university recognizes that mental health plays a foundational role in academic success, as well as a student’s overall well-being.
Students can still access assistance funding for counseling services before the no-cost start date.
