Arizona State University is partnering with local school districts on a new fruit and vegetable study. They want to figure out how schools can work with grocery stores to encourage kids and families to eat more of those foods.
ASU will work with four schools to see if coordinated fruit and vegetable promotions between schools and a neighboring grocery store can help parents find fruits and veggies their child would enjoy at home.
Schools will be randomly assigned to either receive promotions or not. Study staff will then go to campuses at lunch time and weigh student trays before and after meal time to see how much they ate.
The study will run through this academic year and following data completion, each participating school will be compensated with a $1,000 gift card.
