Both VP candidates are campaigning in southern Arizona on Wednesday, as efforts intensify to try to secure the coveted swing state.
In a rally at the Pima County Fairgrounds, Republican Sen. JD Vance focused on the economy, border security, and ongoing wars in Europe and the Middle East. And he blamed Vice President Kamala Harris for crime and rising costs.
"If you want a secure southern border, if you want to lower the prices of groceries, if you want to lower the price of housing in this country, you're welcome to vote for Donald J. Trump for president, because he's the person who's actually gonna fix those problems," Vance said.
Democrat and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz also held a rally Wednesday in Tucson. The campaign visits come on the first day Arizonans can submit an early ballot for the election.
Walz criticized Trump’s stance on reproductive rights.
"This group, with Donald Trump, When they mean freedom, they mean that they should be free to invade your exam room, to invade your school library, to invade your bedroom, an have government be just small enough to be in every damn part of your life that they shouldn’t be," he said.
