With less than three weeks until the elections, staff at Maricopa County are working to ensure people with disabilities can cast their ballot on Election Day if they choose to.

Jennifer Liewer is the deputy elections director for Maricopa County Elections. She says they’ve partnered with disability organizations like Ability 360 to do outreach within the community.

"But for those who want to have an in-person voting experience, we want to make sure that they are able to do that regardless of their abilities," said Liewer.

So voters can request to have somebody come out to their car when they come to a vote center and be assisted in the voting process. They also have accessible voting devices and there are special election boards, which are made up of a Republican and a Democrat

"They go out and they visit individuals who are unable to maybe leave an assisted living facility or are hospitalized but would like assistance in casting their ballot," Liewer said.

Liewer says voters can also bring someone with them to assist in the voting process.
