A national LGBTQ+ advocacy organization is encouraging more than 1.5 million voters who live in battleground states, including Arizona, to vote in this year’s election.

The Human Rights Campaign came to the Valley to get out the vote at the Phoenix Pride event this weekend. Brandon Wolf is the national press secretary for HRC. He says the votes cast by supporters of LGBTQ+ rights could make a difference in some of the state’s tighter races.

“When you look at people like Kari Lake, Kari Lake is someone who, you know, she's running to serve in the United States Senate, has been clear about her disdain for the LGBTQ+ community," he said.

Wolf also says the issues that are top of mind for the LGBTQ+ community range from pro-LGBTQ+ legislation to health-care accessibility and equity.
