Maricopa County officials are criticizing the recent undercover video distributed by a right-wing figure and his organization. Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe shared a secret recording capturing Maricopa County election training procedures.

The video shows an election officer explaining the rules of poll workers not acting in the role of law enforcement in the context of witnessing ballot harvesting. The video also shows the election officer explaining that ballots will be counted if they have a matching signature.

After uploading the video, O’Keefe drew the ire of many who pointed out his claims of election integrity violations to be insignificant.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer responded on social media referring to O’Keefe as “intrepid” and saying the video showed an accurate description of election law.

Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates also responded to the video online criticizing O’Keefe and saying the secret recording “endangers the safety” of election workers.
