Arizona is one of the battleground states being hotly pursued by presidential candidates this election season. That means election workers must take great care in ensuring the elections process goes smoothly.
Democrat and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes appeared on CBS’ "Face the Nation" to discuss matters related to this process.
He says he would certify the election results no matter who wins.
While Fontes did not go into the specifics of the security measures for election workers, he did acknowledge more safety measures are being taken in contrast to previous years.
During his appearance, he also addressed concerns about undocumented people voting in the election.
“It is absolutely vanishingly rare," he said. "No system is perfect. And I’ll admit that right off the top. But the allegation that this is something that might turn an election or is something much bigger than it is, that’s the nonsense that we are dealing with."
Fontes says it will take 10 to 13 days from Election Day, Nov. 5, to count the votes and have official results.
