A majority of people 45 and older voted for President Donald Trump, according to exit polls.
Members of Gen X aren't often considered to be "older voters," even though the oldest is turning 60 next year.
Among 45- to 64-year-olds, 46% supported Vice President Kamala Harris. While 52% supported Trump, according to AP Vote Cast.

"And I think what's interesting about this campaign cycle is there is a possibility that we skip an entire generation in the White House. I mean, if you look at Trump's age at 80, and you look at where [Vice President-election JD] Vance is, you skipped an entire generation of Gen X."
Vance, who is 40, is a millennial. At the same time, issues like Social Security and Medicare, which are on the horizon for Gen X, were not big talking points in this election.
"Remember, this is a very important voting bloc. And so it's going to be difficult for policymakers to say, I'm cutting Social Security for Gen X, because that will have a massive ripple effect politically on their chances for reelection."
