A man who stole a key fob from the Maricopa County elections headquarters was sentenced Wednesday to serve several months in jail.
Walter Ringfield Jr. was a temporary employee for the county working in the ballot and tabulation center during the 2024 election cycle.
The security key he stole was rapidly recovered, but forced the county to reprogram their election equipment.
He pleaded guilty to four felonies for various crimes, including the county elections center theft.
Ringfield also admitted to stealing various things from the state Senate building, jewelry from the Phoenix Art Museum and a grocery store. He appeared to be in good spirits at the sentencing, but didn’t make a statement.
He was sentenced to six months of jail time, with credit for about a month and a half, and three years of probation.
His release date is set for July 19.
