The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has approved a contract with an outside organization to conduct a review of its elections processes.
The national consulting firm BerryDunn has been tapped for the job.
According to a press release, the examination will include a review of chain of custody, physical security and the use of ballot drop boxes.
In February, the board had approved funding for an independent review of elections.
The firm reportedly helped with internal audits after the August Primary election of 2018. The County says there have been significant changes in elections operations since then.
They also say board members had no involvement in selecting BerryDunn, which was picked by the county’s internal audit department.
The contract runs through June of next year, though early reports could be completed this fall.
