Unofficial results show incumbents trailing and newcomers leading in the Tempe City Council runoff elections held in Tempe on Tuesday.
Challengers Brooke St. George and Bobby Nichols have early leads.
St. George declared victory on Tuesday night for one of two seats up for grabs, leading by about 1,500 votes. Nichols is currently second in the four-person field, leading incumbent Berdetta Hodge by about 600 votes.
Fellow incumbent Jennifer Adams has the fewest votes. St. George is a former aide to Adams, while Nichols is an assistant attorney general in the Arizona Attorney General's Office.
Incumbent Arlene Chin did win enough votes in March’s general election to keep her seat. Once certified, the three will be sworn in during July.
