Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs has a 31 percentage point advantage in Latino support over Republican Andy Biggs, according to a recent poll by UnidosUS.

University of Texas professor Daron Shaw worked on the survey of hundreds of Arizonans, which found that 52% of Latinos would vote for Hobbs, 21% would pick Biggs.

Shaw said most independents and a chunk of Republicans don’t yet have a favorite candidate.

“The indecision on the part of either the independents, or Republican, or Republican-leaning constituencies is where a lot of the action is right now,” he said.

Biggs is currently projected to be the Republican nominee to challenge Hobbs in November.

Most Arizona Latinos did not vote for Donald Trump for president in 2024, but an increase in Latino support helped him win the state.

The UnidosUS poll found that 19% of Arizona Latinos who voted for Trump say they would not do it again.

Clarissa Martínez De Castro, a vice president at UnidosUS, said the pool of Latino voters continues to grow here and nationwide.

“The poll shows that 40% of Hispanic voters have joined the electorate in the last four years; 35% in Arizona,” she said.

Among the top issues this election year for Arizona Latinos are cost of living, housing and immigration.
