Elijah Norton won Arizona’s Republican state treasurer primary, defeating Katherine Haley, according to the Associated Press.

Norton, who founded a vehicle warranty business, is a former treasurer for the Arizona Republican Party. Over the course of the campaign, he pointed to the party’s return to financial stability during his tenure, an effort buoyed by Norton’s decision to donate thousands of dollars of his own money to offset past party losses.

Haley is a member of the state Board of Education and previously worked as a policy adviser for Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Norton will face Democrat Nick Mansour, a former CEO of the Arizona College of Nursing, in the general election.
