Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren announced that he’ll address ongoing efforts to recall him from office and the sexual harassment allegations made by his Vice President Richelle Montoya.

This comes as volunteers have been working to collect the signatures needed to trigger a recall vote, following public accusations from Montoya of sexual harassment in the workplace amid other concerns.

Nygren called the campaign’s tactics dangerous, claiming that he and his staff have experienced political violence as a result but not specifying further.

The Navajo Nation’s Attorney General Ethel Branch also recently released an update on the investigation into Montoya’s claims.

Branch says it’s led by an independent attorney and still just beginning.

Montoya made the allegations in a video on social media earlier this year, but didn’t initially name Nygren. A month later, the President confirmed that he was the accused but denied any wrongdoing.
