Pima County leaders approved a grant to help fund an affordable housing project in Tucson’s south side.
By a 4-1 vote this week, the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved spending an additional $750,000 on the Emory Park Place project. Officials say the construction broke ground in July and it’ll eventually include four duplexes reserved for residents at below 80% of the median income in that part of town.
This funding comes from a collaboration that includes Pima County, Family Housing Resources Inc. and the Southern Arizona Land Trust. State, local and federal funding has been put toward tackling a burgeoning housing shortage since 2022 — including a $50 million federal grant awarded to Tucson.
