The Navajo Nation Council is reassuring farmers and ranchers their crop insurance benefits are safe despite recent issues.

CKP Insurance, the administrator for the Nation’s Agriculture Infrastructure Fund Program, wasn't selected to renew its contract for next year. The council cited issues with poor service and pricing, accusing CKP of retaliating by restricting access to the official program website and spreading misinformation.

A new insurance provider is already queued up to manage another program that protects against losses from drought.

With CKP allegedly refusing to grant the Navajo Department of Agriculture access to essential data, incentive payments for several agricultural programs are delayed.  CKP did not respond to a request for an interview.

According to the council, new incentive applications will still be available for 2025.
