Lawmakers in the U.S. Senate have approved a defense budget that includes more than $340 billion for the Trump administration’s mass deportation and immigration detention efforts.

If passed, the framework would provide $175 billion toward border security and immigration efforts, including mass deportations and additional border wall. Another $150 billion would go to the Pentagon and some $20 billion to the U.S. Coast Guard. The plan is next headed to committees, where it could face further changes before being voted on again later on.

The move comes as the Trump administration removes deportation protection for some 500,000 Haitian nationals in the U.S. with temporary immigration statuses. Rights advocates say the funding package could fuel federal actions that strip away due process and other rights for immigrants.
