3 tourists are missing after Grand Canyon trip, storm

Coconino County Sheriff's Department

Law enforcement officials are still searching for a family of three who went missing after visiting the Grand Canyon last week.

The family has been missing for a week; since leaving Grand Canyon National Park and traveling towards Las Vegas last Thursday.

A late winter storm had blanketed the region. The family was traveling in a rented BMW with California plates and GPS information tracked the last whereabouts as westbound Interstate 40 at about 3:30 p.m. that day.

A multi-car accident had occurred near Williams that day, involving 22 semi trucks and passenger vehicles, killing two.

Coconino County Sheriff’s Department officials say they don’t know if the three missing people were involved in that crash.
