More human remains, vehicle matching missing tourists' found at I-40 wreckage outside Williams

Coconino County Sheriff's Department

Police in northern Arizona gave a grim update to the case of the missing South Korean tourists who disappeared while traveling between the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas nearly two weeks ago.

Authorities said they confirmed that one of the vehicles in the burned out wreckage along Interstate 40 from March 13 was a BMW SUV. That matches the type of car the three women were driving in.

They also found more human remains within the debris from the crash and have turned those over to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner.

The crash involved 22 vehicles and killed at least two people. The intensity of the resulting flames have posed significant challenges to emergency crews trying to identify remains.
