Prescribed burns are once again filling the skies over Flagstaff with smoke.

Coconino National Forest officials planned four different burns over some 6,000 acres of forest this week. The fires range from near Sedona to east of Flagstaff.

National forest spokesman Brady Smith says these prescribed burns need to be completed now.

"This window of opportunity will be left soon and then we’ll be smack-dab into wildfire season," he said.

Burns are scheduled until Friday.
