Navajo County officials said Monday that they’ve confirmed the first cases of measles in Arizona this year.
Navajo County Public Health Services said all four individuals were not immunized and have a recent history of international travel. They were exposed through a single source.
Public health officials are working to identify where exposure may have occurred and are currently notifying people who may have been exposed between May 17 and May 28.
Unvaccinated individuals are urged to monitor for measles symptoms which appear one to two weeks after exposure. Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported there were more than 1,100 cases nationwide and three deaths.
