The governor of the state of Sonora, Mexico, announced a new investment into the airport in the capital of Hermosillo.
The more than $50 million investment – about one billion Mexican pesos – comes from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, a Mexican airport operator based in Guadalajara which manages the Hermosillo airport.
The money will go toward modernizing the airport and expanding its capacity. The state’s governor says the investment helps make Hermosillo a tourism and logistics hub.
Hermosillo’s airport recently won an award from the Airports Council International for having high satisfaction scores among customers in Latin America and the Caribbean.
