A proposal to increase recreation fees at the Prescott National Forest may change the way people access the camping area at Mingus Mountain. That means the forest would convert several existing campsites from private use under a special use permit to public use.
The changes would increase the fee at North Mingus Campground to $18 for a single site and $36s for a double site.
Prescott National Forest Supervisor Sarah Clawson said in a statement that the fees will help with site maintenance in the future.
The public can still comment on the proposed fee changes online or by reaching out to the forest’s recreation program manager. A citizen’s advisory committee will then review the fee changes.
