The Sonoran beach town Puerto Peñasco is a popular destination for Arizona tourists.

Tourism is up in Mexico compared to last year, according to the country’s tourism secretary.

International tourism to Mexico in the first five months of 2025 increased by more than 14%, compared to the same period last year.

Visitors from the United States continue to make up a majority of international tourists in Mexico, despite tensions between the two countries’ administrations. Americans made up more than half of international visitors from January to May of this year.

Mexico also saw an 18% increase in international arrivals in the month of May compared to last May. Of the nearly 8 million international visitors that month, there were slightly more day visitors than overnight tourists, as cruise visitors continue to rise post-pandemic.
