The number of former residents suing a state-licensed behavioral health facility near Prescott has nearly doubled to 25.

The latest negligence complaint filed in court alleges sex crimes by staff at Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center.

The first complaint was filed in January, and the second was filed in July. The opening pages of both are almost identical.

In the July case, unidentified former residents accuse center staff of rape and sexual assault between 2011 and 2023.

A spokesperson for Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center says a sweeping internal review found no evidence of the allegations, and the center will mount a vigorous defense in court.

Roughly 100 girls ages 12 to 17 live at the center. Many residents are in a specialized program for sex trafficking survivors.

Former residents at Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center, a state-licensed behavioral health facility for girls, allege in a negligence lawsuit that sexual assaults and abuse by staff went on for more than a decade.
