The mayor of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, says the United States has revoked his visa to enter the country.
Juan Francisco Gim said in a video on social media that he “remains calm and with a clear conscience” — and that with time he will get a reason for why his visa was revoked.
“This isn’t a hunt or a scandal, it’s an administrative process,” Gim said.

Other public officials in Mexico have had their visas revoked in recent months under the second Trump administration, including the governor of Baja California and her husband.
Gim recently praised President Donald Trump’s immigration policies in an interview on Fox News. Nogales, Sonora, abuts the Arizona city of Nogales, and people in the area regularly cross from one side to the other.

The department did not release a list of names of the people it says are family, business or personal acquaintances of people associated with the drug cartel.
